Presidential Election Commission opens reception of application letters

The Presidential Election Commission has today opened the reception of presidential application letters from candidates vying for the top job in Mogadishu capital.

Osman Libah, Spokesman of the commission who spoke to Sunatimes said the application process which they opened today is set to end on 6thday of September.

The Election Commission will be working from 9:00 A.M to 6:00 P.M to collect applications from presidential candidates.

Meanwhile, the election commission added another presidential candidate requirement which compels all aspirants to either have a Somali passport or birth certificate.

Moreover, a recommendation of 20 MPs is needed of the presidential aspirant for him/her to run for the presidency.

The names of the recommenders are anticipated to be privately kept by the presidential election commission.
