Galmudug minister on peace mission in Galinsor.

A high level delegation from Galmudug administered side of Galkayo has travelled to Galinsor district in efforts to quell escalating tribal affiliated clashes in the area.

The delegation led by the area Interior and Internal security minister Abshir Dini Awale is expected to pitch tents in the district and push for immediate cessation of the prevailing hostilities.

Speaking to Sunatimes, Awale said he is on a peace mission and is being accompanied by several traditional leaders and officials from his docket in a bid to resolve difference between two clans who have been at loggerheads since last week.

He said that a permanent end to this flare-up in the area is within reach as they have embarked on direct talks with clan leaders in the affected districts.

Awale however added that they will also be contacting elders in Adado district which is part of ares in the region affected by the flare-up to end the ongoing clan animosity in the entire region.

Galinsor has been the hardest hit by this clan affiliated skirmishes since the flare-up between two rival clan militias from Galinsor and Adado districts erupted early last year.

In mid this month, one person was killed and another one injured when a scuffle erupted between these two clan militias in an area near Galinsor town.

Meanwhile, the regional administration has embarked on an ambitious plan to establish a police and military training facility in an area between Adado and Galinsor districts.

The area Interior and Internal security minister Abshir Dini Awale who laid the foundation stone of the facility said their regional forces and that of the central Somali government will be trained at this facility.

He said the Somali defence ministry has played a vital role in establishing this facility adding that the commander of national army Gen. Abdikadir Sheikh Ali has earlier visited the site.
