The advocacy group Solda Safety Network has officially requested Swiss authorities to launch an investigation into a Somali resident in Lausanne who is alleged to be involved in fraud, blackmail, drug trafficking, and potential financing of illicit activities.

According to Solda Safety Network, the individual, Mohamed Mohamud, also known on TikTok as "Khalid Mula”, resides at Rte du Jorat 194B, 1000 Lausanne. Reports suggest that Mohamud, a Somali national holding a Greek residency permit, was once linked to Somali piracy networks.

Allegations

The organization alleges that Mohamud:

  • Earns substantial income through TikTok while simultaneously receiving Swiss welfare benefits. In one instance, he reportedly collected more than $100,000 in TikTok "coins” overnight.
  • Engages in blackmail and exploitation, including threatening young women with intimate recordings.
  • Has shown inappropriate behavior involving minors in online interactions.
  • Is linked to the khat trade in Lausanne, with an outlet reportedly operating on Rue de Genève 85.
  • Channels funds through PayPal (account: [email protected]) that may be used to finance weapons purchases in Somalia.

Call to Action

In its official letter addressed to the Établissement Vaudois d’Accueil des Migrants (EVAM) and the Canton of Vaud administration, Solda Safety Network emphasized the "serious risks to public safety, financial integrity, and social protection systems” posed by Mohamud’s alleged activities.

The organization has urged authorities to:

  1. Launch a comprehensive investigation into Mohamud’s activities in Switzerland.
  2. Verify his residency status, housing arrangements, and social welfare claims.
  3. Scrutinize his financial transactions, including PayPal transfers, for links to illicit networks.

Broader Concerns

The case highlights growing concerns about how social media platforms can be exploited for fraud, extortion, and the financing of organized crime. It also raises questions about the monitoring of welfare systems when beneficiaries simultaneously earn large undeclared sums online.

Solda Safety Network stated it will continue to cooperate with Swiss authorities to provide additional evidence, including video recordings and testimonies collected during its monitoring efforts.
