Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Former Somali Prime minister Omar Abdirashid Sharma’arke has yesterday officially handed over the office of the prime minster to the newly appointed acting PM Abdiwahid Elmi Gonjeh.
In a colorful ceremony that was held at Mogadishu’s villa Somalia, former PM described Mr. Gonjeh whom he handed over to the office as a man of integrity and honesty. Sharma’arke said that he was able to work well with Mr. Gonjeh when he served in his cabinet as a minister.
Omar Abdirashid Sharma’arke urged the Somali leadership to continue with the national draft constitution process as he emphasized on the need of the new law.
Acting Prime minister, Abdiwahid Gonjeh on his part said that he will serve the people of Somali with justice and integrity during the short period he will serve as he waits for President Sheriff Sheikh Ahmed to appoint a new PM.
Dr. Omar Abdirashid Sharma’arke has resigned as Somali Prime Minister early last week when the Somali leadership was marred by disagreements and the parliamentarians were not willing to approve the cabinet he appointed a few months ago.
