Asoj.org - A Somali media group called the president of United States, Donald Trump, to respect the freedom of expression which is enshrined by US constitution and Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Associated Somali Journalist (ASOJ) called Trump not target media house because of their coverage of US presidential election which brought him to the White House.

"We are saddened by action of the White House  press secretary, Sean Spicer, who disallowed credible  media houses to attend press briefing," said ASOJ Secretary General Dahir Alasow.

"The US government was the most strong defense line of the freedom of expression, " he said.

Reporters for CNN, BBC, The New York Times, Politico, The Los Angeles Times and BuzzFeed were not allowed into a session in the office of press secretary Mr. Spicer.

ASOJ said that the world is silent and failed to condemn the undemocratic exercise  by President Trump's administration.

"If a country from the developing  world was mistreated  the free media the way the USA does there would have been an outcry," Alasow said

"We are calling the US government to respect the freedom of expression," he concluded.
