Government of Belgium has rejected the asylum request of a woman who is a human rights and young girls' activist in Mogadishu. Ifrah Abdi Guled works for the NGO Daryel Association based in Sweden.
"Ifrah is a well-known human rights activist, and I could not believe that Belgian gov’t has refused her claim of ayslum” Chairman of daryeel Association Abdullahi Ali Salad told to Sunames.com on the line from Sweden.
Ifrah whom we have interviewed in Belgium told us that as a result of the Belgian rejection, she claimed her asylum in France, but later on request another asylum request to Belgium.
She told us that the reason of the rejection was "the ID of Daryeel Association in new, and has not been used before”.
Her lawyer, Alexander Loobuyck said "I am bound by my professional secrecy. I’ll give you my comments after I saw her, so I can ask for her approval”.

Al-Shabab is known for targeting journalists and female Activist in their homes.

"Now [I'm fleeing] Somalia but before I left I had already had to flee from my family to keep them safe,” she said.

But these precautions haven’t shielded her from frequent death threats from al-Shabab by phone and text

Ifrah Guled is a well-known figure in the IDP camps in Mogadishu.  She was forefront in the women and girl rights campaigns.

Belgium is one of the best countries in the world which grants asylum to the needy Somali refugees, but the rejection of Ifrah’s plea can attributed to misunderstanding on suspicious issues based on communication barrier.

However, Sunatimes.com saw a letter from the daryeel Association, clearly stating that Ifrah was working with the NGO.
Somalia is one of the most dangerous places in the world to be a female activist or  journalist. A failed state where extremists and criminal gangs operate with impunity
