LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND — Mohamed Mohamud, a Somali TikTok creator known online as "Khalid Mula," is facing allegations of blackmail, harassment, threats and coercive financial pressure involving TikTok LIVE gifting.

Mohamud, who has used the TikTok username @king.khalidmula, is reported to be based in Lausanne, Switzerland. The allegations described in this article have not been proven in court, and any determination of criminal wrongdoing remains a matter for the competent authorities.

Woman Alleges More Than $17,000 in Gifts

A woman referred to as "Mrs Siraad,” a pseudonym used at her request, alleges that Mohamud subjected her to blackmail and pressure that led her to send him more than $17,000 in money and TikTok gifts.

She claims the payments were not entirely voluntary and that she continued sending gifts because she feared consequences if she stopped.

A second woman, whose identity is being withheld at her request, says she developed a romantic relationship with Mohamud and travelled from the United States to Switzerland to meet him.

She alleges that private videos were recorded during the visit and subsequently used to pressure her into sending money and TikTok gifts. She says she eventually reached a point where she had no money left.

These allegations have not been independently established.

$4,800 Fundraising Dispute Involving Mother of Sick Child

A separate case concerns Farhiya Diiriye Dufle, a Somali mother who was seeking financial assistance while caring for a seriously ill child.

Dufle alleges that approximately $4,800 was collected through TikTok for her benefit, but that Mohamud subsequently failed to hand over the money.

Video evidence relating to the dispute has been preserved. According to the material provided, one recording shows Dufle describing the incident in her own words, while separate footage reportedly shows Mohamud himself discussing the disputed money and what happened to the funds.

The recordings could provide relevant first-hand evidence for TikTok or competent authorities reviewing the dispute. The existence of the videos does not by itself establish that a criminal offence occurred, and any legal determination would require examination of the complete evidence.

Further Allegations of Harassment

Other complainants have alleged that female university students were pressured to send TikTok gifts, including money needed for educational expenses.

There are also allegations that individuals who stopped supporting or challenged Mohamud became targets of attacks during TikTok LIVE broadcasts, with disputes sometimes extending to relatives and other family members.

Separate recorded material reportedly shows photographs of children belonging to Somali journalist Dahir Alasow being displayed during TikTok activity involving Mohamud. He is also alleged to have made insulting remarks concerning the children's parentage.

Because minors are involved, this publication is not reproducing the photographs.

High-Value TikTok Gifting

Evidence supplied in connection with the allegations reportedly indicates that Mohamud received more than 20 million in TikTok LIVE gifting activity during a single night, with an estimated value exceeding $100,000.

The precise monetary value, source of the gifts and amount ultimately paid to the creator have not been independently verified. TikTok's internal transaction and payout records would be necessary to establish those figures.

Multiple TikTok accounts associated with Mohamud have also reportedly been suspended or removed, although the reasons for those enforcement actions have not been independently confirmed.

Calls for Independent Investigation

Complainants are calling on Swiss authorities and TikTok to preserve and examine relevant evidence, including communications, LIVE recordings, gifting records, transaction histories and the video material connected with the allegations.

If supported by evidence, the allegations could raise issues requiring assessment under applicable Swiss law and TikTok's platform policies.

The allegations contained in this article remain unproven unless independently established. Mohamud should be given an opportunity to respond, and any determination of fraud, blackmail, coercion or other criminal conduct rests with the competent authorities.
