Mogadishu.(Sunatimes) The transitional federal government of Somalia (TFG) is engaged in reconciliation talks with Hezbal Islam rebels, deputy prime minister revealed Sunday.

"The talks are on going smoothly and we are very hopeful that Heszbal Islam which has no ties to Alqaeda will totally change its policies and will join Somali government" the deputy prime minister said.

The negotiation talks between Somali government and the rebel group comes as tension has been mounting between the two rebels in Somalia Al shabab and Hezbal Islam with the Alqaeda proxy taking over more regions from their former ally which is now loosing more lands to them.
Al shabab them selves are now advancing to more cities and towns currently administered by Hezbal Islam in a bid to seize from them before Somali government occupies.
Both Islamist rebel groups were united in fighting against the legal Somali government, but divided over the control of the Key port town of Kismayo just 500 kilometers south of the capital which fell into the hands of Alshabab October 1st last year after hours-long combat between them.
Somalia has lacked a functioning central government since the 1991 downfall of former military rule of the late dictator General Mohamed Siyad Barre. Wars and famine have engulfed the lives of more than half a million Somalis since than.
