Ahlu Sunna administration in central Somalia regions Wednesday detained government’s Dusamareb deputy district commissioner for failing to account for guns under his surety, reports say.

The group accused the government official for failing to produce guns under his responsibility after standing for a former Ahlu Sunna militiaman who ditched the group and disappeared with the guns.

The group also detained Sa’id Irbad, a local elder for failing to return a gun that was taken away by another militiaman.

Confirming the arrest, the group’s executive committee chairman Mohamed Yussuf Hefow said his administration is now undertaking efforts to strengthen the integrity of the area local administration.

He said the decision was reached after realizing some individuals were out in jeopardizing their activities in this area.
