Former Prime Minister of Somalia, Hassan Ali Khaire, has strongly condemned the reported arrest of several journalists in Mogadishu, accusing government security forces of carrying out what he described as an "abduction" targeting media professionals.
In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Khaire claimed that security forces detained a group of journalists late at night while they were on their way home. He identified the individuals as Rowdo Hassan Taakilo, Hamdi Abdi Addow, Abdihamid Abdikarim Hussein, Abdihakim Mohiuddin Sheikh Ali, and Musab Mire Indhayare.

Khaire characterized the incident as part of a broader pattern of alleged human rights violations, accusing the administration of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of engaging in actions that undermine civil liberties. Among the allegations raised were the suppression of the media, arbitrary arrests of youth, forced displacement of vulnerable communities, and restrictions on public freedoms.

The former prime minister further claimed that the current administration is nearing the end of its mandate, stating that "only eight days remain,” though no official confirmation has been provided regarding this timeline.

Khaire also called on Somali citizens and civil society leaders to prepare for what he described as efforts to "save the country and its people” from ongoing governance failures.

⚖️ Government Response and Verification

As of now, there has been no official response from the Federal Government of Somalia regarding Khaire’s allegations. Independent verification of the reported arrests has also not yet been confirmed.

???? Context and Analysis

The statement comes amid rising political tensions in Somalia, where issues related to press freedom, governance, and security operations have increasingly become points of public debate.

✔️ Conclusion:
Khaire’s remarks reflect serious political accusations against the current administration; however, further confirmation and official responses will be critical in establishing the full context of the situation.
