MOGADISHU (Sunatimes)-Somali’s fragile government is facing severe Financial Crisis, as its battling well-funded, coordinated Islamists extremists after failing to provide salaries for the government forces and members of the Somali Parliament, officials said.
“The situation is now at the worst stage, we fear more crisis and collapse” a senior Somali government official told Sunatimes Saturday.
The MPs complain lack of their salaries in the past 10 months, At the same time, security officials say that the pro-government soldiers, whether in the army or the police, have the same problem for the past five months.
"How can the parliament be asked to function and meet when its members are insolvent and have no money to provide for their needs” Mohamed Omar Dalha, the deputy speaker of parliament told Sunatimes.
He described the current financial crisis as "a farce that must stop immediately."
Established on 2009, Somali government is the last attempt to restore peace to the horn of Africa nation, but corruptions and disagreement are the order of last governments.
