MOGADISHU (Sunatimes)- Somalia’s Alqaeda-inspired Alshabaab group says suicide car bomb at AU peacekeepers in Mogadishu was a revenge of their colleague slain in Iraq, a move indicating the militants’ dream and attractions to have close relations with the Alqaeda network.

 

The spokesman of the group has claimed responsibility of yesterday's suicide car bombing that targeted a base of African Peacekeepers was a revenge of Al-Qa'idah leader in Iraq Umar Al-Iraqi and his army commander Abu Hamza who were both killed in Iraq.

 

“It was a holy attack to retaliate the killings of our two brothers in Iraq” Rage said.

 

“We have wounded four AMISOM soldiers” he added.

 

Meanwhile, the spokesman of African union Peacekeepers has vowed that AU peacekeepers will not halt its peacekeeping operations in Somalia despite that attack.

 

“Their foolish attack will not deter us from our duty” Barigye Ba-hoku told Sunatimes.

 

Elsewhere, hundreds of troops from the moderate Ahlu Sunna Waljamaca group have partially entered the main Bakara market, which is a main base for the extremist rebels fighting the weak Somali government.

 

The report says the troops have advanced to the market after hours of fighting with the joint rebels.

 

The horn of Africa nation has been without central government since1991 after clan militias and warlords overthrown the dictator regime of Siad Barre that lastly leashed the out to constant violence for more than 20 years.
