MOGADISHU (Sunatimes) – Mortar shells fired Alshabaab militants into residential neighborhoods in Somali capital killed three people, the latest civilians deaths in the war-torn country since a failed car bomb attack on AU peacekeepers, witnesses said Wednesday.

The mortar launched from Baraka market, a hotbed for al Qaeda-inspired group base have landed on houses in KM area, killing a man and his wife in one place, and a child at nearby junction.

“A woman and her husband died in their house, and a young shoe-cleaner also died at a nearby place” Sacdiya Abdi, an eyewitness in the area told Sunatimes.

“Alshabaab committed this, they behead, shell, amputate and rape civilians” she added.

Other residents confirmed the civilian causalities.

The weak Somali government is struggling to stabilize Somalia, but corruption and dishonestly made the government fraudulent and lack of performances.

Last month, human rights watch has accused al-Shabaab of subjecting inhabitants of southern Somalia to killings, cruel punishments, and repressive social control, the report says Al-Shabaab,  continue to conduct indiscriminate attacks, killing and wounding numerous civilians.

The horn of Africa nation has been without central government since1991 after clan militias and warlords overthrown the dictator regime of Siad Barre that lastly leashed out to constant violence for more than 20 years.
