According to opposition figures, the continued use of political pressure, security measures, and restrictive policies against critics has contributed to a widening gap between the government and the public.
"The strength of any government depends not only on its authority but also on the trust and confidence of its people," said one political observer in Mogadishu. "When citizens feel unheard or marginalized, support naturally shifts toward alternative voices."
Human rights advocates have also raised concerns about the detention of activists, restrictions on freedom of expression, and allegations of excessive force against individuals participating in peaceful demonstrations.
The issue has become increasingly visible as opposition groups mobilize supporters ahead of major political events, while public debates over governance, constitutional rights, and accountability continue to intensify.
Observers note that governments maintain legitimacy through transparency, respect for human rights, responsiveness to citizens' concerns, and adherence to democratic principles. When these foundations weaken, public confidence can erode and political polarization may deepen.
As Somalia faces a critical political period, many stakeholders are calling for dialogue, reconciliation, and meaningful engagement between the government, opposition groups, and civil society to prevent further divisions and ensure stability.
Analysts warn that addressing public concerns through peaceful dialogue and institutional reforms may be essential to restoring trust and preserving national unity.
