Sunatimes.com - Ethiopia's Tigray forces are committed to "extended resistance", according to an audio message purporting to be from its leader, who accused federal government troops and their allies of rape and looting.
The message attributed to Debretsion Gebremichael would be the first statement from him since November 11, although he was in touch with reporters until the first of week of December.
"They [the federal government] have temporary military dominance,” said the recording, alleging rights abuses like looting and rape.
"We are engaged in extended resistance.”
The audio was posted on the Facebook page of a media outlet affiliated with Tigray forces, months after they had been driven from major cities in the region following an offensive by allied Ethiopian, Eritrean and Amhara regional forces.
"The cities and rural areas of Tigray are shelled day and night by heavy artilleries,” Debretsion added.
Debretsion called on ethnic Tigrayans abroad to contribute money to supporting regional forces fighting allied forces in the northern Ethiopian region.
