MOGADISHU (Sunatimes)-The hardline Islamist group of Alshabaab ordered hundreds students in the port city of Kismayo, southern Somalia to join ‘’Jihad’’, a clear violation of the students’ rights and caring, residents said.

Hassan Yaqub, the spokesman of the group held meeting with hundreds of students, teachers and principals from Jubba, Fanole and Ahmad Hambal schools in the town, and discussed how the students could be able to join the Jihad, according to residents attended the meeting.

“It’s not the right time to learn, but take guns for Jihad” Yaqub told young students. “You have to register yourself within few days and join Jihad”.

He accused Kenyan government of training pro-government militia at Mombassa and Isiolo, adding that Kenya wants back up militia who are trying to attack Jubba regions..

Deputy Secretary of legal affairs for the extremists, Sheikh Abdinasir has pushed for students not to learn foreign languages and put their efforts in studying Islamic religion.

Kismayo is a port city in the lower  Jubbada region of Somalia, it’s the country's third largest city that lies 328 miles (528 km) southwest of Mogadishu, near the mouth of the Jubba River, where that river flows into the Indian Ocean. As of 2008, the population is estimated at 70,000 inhabitants.
