New Secterian violence in Somalia?

By: Abdinasir Mohamed, Editor-In Chief

KISMAYO (Sunatimes) – A hand grenade blast in a mosque in the rebel-held port town of Kismayo, killed two people, wounded 13 more, witnesses told Sunatimes Sunday night.

The explosion at Gulwade mosque occurred around 9:20 pm (0620 GMT), shattering windows of the mosque and sending a large plume of smoke billowing across the town.

Hundreds of Alshabaab fighters rushed to the scene and encircled, denying people to approach that fuelled suspicions that militants’ members suffered causalities.

“1 worshipper died on the spot and 13 others wounded” Mohamed, a survivor told Sunatimes.

“It was a shocking incident. Blood was flowing on the ground” he added.

There was no immediate claim of the blast, which follow major set of co-ordinated explosions at a mosque in the main Bakara market in Mogadishu on Saturday that killed 50 more and injured100 others.

We shall update you as soon as we get new updates.
