Mogadishu: Sunatimes- The Al-shabab militia group’s highest commanding officer, Ahmed Godane, sent a message to the people of Mogadishu through the radio stations in the capital. He urged the people of Mogadishu to fight the TFG and AMISOM forces in his audio message.
The Al-shabab leader also accused some of his shabab members of being hypocrites. He said those members would only emerge when Al-shabab achieved victory in its struggle for control of Mogadishu and other territories in Southern Somalia. He alleged that certain individuals within Al-shabab would be happy to witness the destruction of his movement.
However, some analysts claim that for the first time there is an indication amongst Al-shabab’s top leadership that there is disunity and the militia group is in crisis in terms of leadership.
It is also thought that Al-shabab’s leader may be using his message to urge the militias to continue fighting as fighting between the TFG and Al-shabab intensifies.
