Mogadishu-Sunatimes. Key ministers in the transitional federal government in Somalia have threatened to defect into the main Islamist opposition group Al-Shabaab if primes minister Omar Abdirashid Sharmarke does not include them in his new cabinet, Waagacusub site qouting sources from presidential place in Mogadishu published on Thursday.

Ministers of information, justice and interior, Dahir Mohamud Gelle, Abdirahman Janaqow and Abdukadir Omar gave warnings against premier’s attempt to skip over their names in the list of the upcoming cabinet ministers.

An officer in the premier office said in condition of anonymity that all the ministers who had been members of Al-Itihad Islamist group and ally to president Sharif Sheik Ahmed will not be include in the new government.”

“What we know is that the information minister Dahir Gelle has been closely working with Al-Shabaab and we also knew he was among the officials that were behind the deadly suicide explosion which happened in Hotel Shamow 3 December 2009 so it would not be a surprise if he rejoins his terror group and this will not have any effect to the government.” The officer said adding that the current information minister is also known to have secretly passes weapons and fund to the Al-Qaeda linked terror group Al-Shabaab.

Dahir Gelle, ages 45, hails from Hawiye clan, has been among the military commanders that forced young students from Mogadishu schools to fight against the Ethiopian troops in late 2006 during the six months Islamic Courts Union rule in southern Somalia.

Delivering his speech in meeting held in Kampala, Uganda by CRD in 2008, Mr. Gelle confessed that he had the responsibility of deaths of more than 2000 students. His words that were recorded can be evidence to his crime against humanity and he may be tried on that case in the future.

President Sharif Sheik Ahmed denied the accusation by the Human Rights Watch which says that the government involves in child recruitment for the war against the Islamists in the capital.

The allegation came after a video report by New York Times showed child soldiers fighting alongside the government troops in the frontlines in Mogadishu, capital of Somalia, while some of them were interviewed.
