    Somalia: MP urges UN to deploy peacekeepers into the country

"The prime minister must leave office, because his government is not accomplishing the duties on it and that is because of his laziness" the prominent Somali lawmaker stated.

Mogadishu,Sunatimes; A Somali Lawmaker and former deputy minister for defense Salad Ali Jelle on Wednesday called on the United Nations to deploy peacekeepers into Somalia to help end the country’s long-running lawlessness.

Talking to reporters in Mogadishu, the lawmaker said that peace and stability can’t be introduced into Somalia unless United Nations peacekeepers are deployed in the country.

"AMISOM only cannot cope with the invading terrorists from around the world, so I urge the UN Security Council to take over the peacekeeping responsibility in Somalia" the former deputy minister for defense and member of Somali parliament Salad Ali Jelle added during his press conference Wednesday.

Mean while, he accused the government of Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali of failing to defeat terrorists in the country who he said are daily killing innocent Somalis.

"The prime minister must leave office, because his government is not accomplishing the duties on it and that is because of his laziness" the prominent Somali lawmaker stated.

Salad Ali Jelle was the sole Somali government official who was leading the combat operation that defeated the once-powerful Islamic courts Union in December 2006.He was the deputy minister for defense at that time.
