This is the first armed confrontation in the capital between the Islamist rebel group; Hizbul Islam and Al-Shabaab as the rivals exchanged heavy artillery with most of dead were from Hizbul Islam, according to the sources on the ground.

An eyewitness told Sunatimes that now Al-Shabaab fighter has secured their control of Yaqshid district in north of the capital where Hizbul Islam has been controlling over the past months.

Among the casualties were civilian who hit by stray bullets in their houses. The fighting within the Islamists came as government officials are in negotiations with Hizbul Islam.
