Hizbul-Islam’s Banadir district officer, Maolim Hashi Mohamed Farah, announced the resumption of GBC’s broadcasting after he explained that the media house has promised to abide by the ban of music

Mogadishu: Sunatimes.com, Global Broadcasting cooperation media network has resumed its broadcast services in Mogadishu’s Banadir district after it was closed two months ago by the Hizbul-Islam militia when it provoked the ban of airing music, which had been ordered by the Hizbul-Islam group.

Hizbul-Islam’s Banadir district officer, Maolim Hashi Mohamed Farah, announced the resumption of GBC’s broadcasting after he explained that the media house has promised to abide by the ban of music his group has imposed on all media stations in the areas they control.

He again expressed that the ban of music still exists and that any media house that fails to abide by the order will be punished. Maalim Hashi also made threats and verbally abused Bar-kulan radio, which is one of the only two radio stations in Mogadishu broadcasting music.

The Hizbul-Islam group had banned the broadcasting of music two months ago declaring it as an anti-Islamic activity that is forbidden in the Islamic region.
