Sunatimes.com - Somalia's information ministry has confirmed that Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has given the green light for a misdirected US airstrike which killed a family of 7 in Jilib, a town in Middle Jubba region this week. The deadly airstrike struck the family's house while they slept, killing all those inside.

The airstrike which was conducted after a wrong intelligences info provided to the US by Somali government which signaled that the house was occupied by al-Shabab members at that time has instead eliminated members of a poor family.

Security forces killed seven Al-Shabaab militants in Jilib

On 16 August, President Farmaajo authorized Somali security forces, in coordination with our international partners, to conduct a security operation against al-Shabaab terrorists in Jilib, Middle Juba region.

Our security forces killed seven al-Shabaab militants, including a senior al-Shabaab leader responsible for multiple bombings in Mogadishu.
