Kenya sovereignity

NAIROBI (Sunatimes)-Reports that suspected militia from the war-torn Somalia raided a village in Kenya and left at least two people dead send a chill down the spines of Kenyans.

Such incidents are unfortunate and put our security agents on the spot and their role of ensuring safety of all Kenyans.

The government has a responsibility of protecting the property and lives of its citizens from both internal and external enemies.

Security chiefs must learn to be proactive and stop criminals from invading Kenya and terrorize innocent citizens at will.

These escalating cases of attacks by criminals from neighbouring countries are unacceptable and all Kenyans must feel safe. There have been reports of harassment of Kenyan fishermen in Migingo Island as well as residents of Pokot in recent past.

It is a pity and regrettable to see Kenyans suffer in the hands of criminals yet the country has enough resources and security personnel to protect its territorial integrity.

Social contract

Security forces must always be alert and repulse the criminals who take advantage our porous borders to unleash terror on civilians.

Kenya is sovereign state and its borders must be protected against possible invasion by foreigners who normally leave behind a trail of destruction.

The government must be held accountable for such incidents especially lose of lives and no amount of explanation will give the bereaved families comfort unless practical action is taken. Life of every Kenyan is very important and it is for this reason that all citizens living near borders must feel safe and their security guaranteed by those in authority with whom they signed a social contract.

We, therefore, call on the government to investigate these reports and take immediate action and assure all Kenyans especially those living near borders that similar unfortunate incident will never occur again.
