President Ali Bongo Ondimba of Gabon has expressed interest in joining the Africa Commonwealth and could sign the Commonwealth’s charter during an upcoming summit in Kigali, Rwanda. Côte d’Ivoire’s Prime Minister, Patrick Achi, has been admitted to a hospital in Paris for medical tests after "suffering from fatigue.” It was previously reported that he collapsed at his residence in Abidjan on May 8, and President Ouattara decided to have him treated in France as a precaution. Achi’s transfer to France for medical reasons represents the third time an African prime minister has been evacuated to Europe for health concerns since the beginning of 2020.
