NAIROBI (Sunatimes)-Police in Naivasha [northwest of capital Nairobi] have arrested 30 Somali and Sudanese immigrants. The immigrants were arrested at Karai trading centre. According to the immigrants, they were on their way to Nairobi West from Kakuma Refugee Camp.
According to OCPD [Officer Commanding Police Division] Ernest Oponyo, police acted on a tip-off and intercepted a bus along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway which the suspects were travelling in.
Oponyo said the passengers who had legal documents were allowed to proceed. He added that of the 30 arrested, 21 were women, five men and four children. He added that the illegal immigrants will be arraigned in court charged with being in the country illegally.
At the station, there was comedy as police officers tried to communicate with the immigrants many of whom could not understand Kiswahili. [Passage omitted]
