Somali bussiness community urged US to return CASH

Sunatimes.com - Business people in the Somali capital of Mogadishu and other parts of the war torn nation of the country urged the US to give back the Somalis millions of dollars frozen after the 911 attack. The money which was owned by Somali people and was managed by the company of Al Barakaat.
- After intense investigation the company is found not guilty.
- The head of the company, Mr. Ahmed Nur Jim’ale, was also cleared of any wrong doing.
- But money confiscated never returned to the rightful owners.
- "America is not a poor country to take our money but maybe the system is too slow." Ahmed ibrahim Yakub said.
- "They are rich and can't assume that we need the money," he added.
- Anab Abdullahi a textile merchant said that she was surprised that America is holding money which belong to the needy Somalis.
- "If you tell people that the US is holding money from poor Somalis no one will believe you," Anab said.
- "Maybe individuals are keeping the money without the concern of their government," she added.
- "There is corruption in every part of the world." She also said.
- The bussiness community are planning a meeting to issue a public statement in the capital next week.
Al-Barkaat was a remittance company that served Somalis abroad to send money to their family members stranded in the civil war. - Mr Jim’ale insisted that he was innocent, a claim which was proven beyond any shadow of doubts by the US and other governments.
The bussiness community are insisting that the money in the US will help boost commerce in Somalia.
