Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Somalia’s ministry of justice has last night announced that the holy month of Ramadan has officially started. The announcement follows the sighting of the new moon in different parts of Somalia.
The ministry wished a blessed Ramadan to all the Muslims and asked them to take advantage of the holy month by asking forgiveness and praying to GOD.
Elsewhere Muslim clerics in Puntland’s Garowe city have also announced that August 11, 2010 was the first day of Ramadan.
A number of the residents in Garowe said that they have sighted the new moon. They were sworn in the main mosque to ensure that the information they gave was factual.
