Sana’a: Waagacusub.com - American security officials suspect Somali-American citizens to have been behind the Sunday bombings in Kampala, which have left over seventy people dead and scores injured.
American security agencies and officials from the foreign affairs secretary’s office have said that a group of Somali men holding American passports left the US for Somalia and may have perpetuated the twin attacks in Uganda.
The daily Arabic newspaper, Sharq Al-awsad, today reported that a British government official who did not wish to be named said that both the US and the UK believe that Somali American citizens plotted the two deadly attacks.
The officials also claimed that American Somali youths who left the US a few months ago went to Somalia and received training near the Somali-Kenyan border on how to carry out the bombings. The training is said to have been given by Al-shabab militants.
According to the newspaper, the US has pledged that it will look into the matter and help catch the perpetuators and prevent other terrorist activities that may target East African countries.
