The fire exchange over land surrounding the airport

Galkayo (Sunatimes) One person has been injured in a fire exchange that has occurred between Galkayo airport security agencies and local militias over a land dispute.

The fire exchange is said to be caused by dispute over land surrounding Galkayo airport, which saw the death of one person.

The fire exchange brought to a standstill to the airport activities where Puntland and Galmudug authorities kept silent on the matter when Bar-kulan contacted them.

Somalia: Village leader killed in Galkayo

Galkayo (Sunatimes) A gang of bandits has today killed a village chairman in his office in Galkayo, the capital of the North-central Mudug region of Somalia.

Some eyewitness people confirmed to Bar-kulan that the chairperson of Horumar village, Musa Abdirahman Ahmed was today at noon time killed in his office.

The gangsters who executed the chairman escaped the death scenario before Galkayo police officers reported at the murder scene where they have started fresh investigations on the murder case.

Meanwhile, the working of Galkayo airport is still at standstill following yesterday’s fire-exchange that occurred between Galkayo airport security agencies and clan militias from the southern Part of the town.

The fire exchange over land surrounding the airport, erupted between the warring partieswhich saw one person injured as Puntland clan leaders are now urging conflicting parties to meet at the drawing table.

Polio vaccination kicks-off in Sool Somalia

Lascano (Sunatimes) Polio vaccination campaigns have today started in various districts of Sool region where medical practioneers have started vaccinating children below five years in large numbers.

Early this morning vehicles attached with microphones were reverberating and calling Lasa’anood residents to bring their children for polio vaccinations.

The provincial commissioner of Sool region, Mohamed Mohamud Ali started the vaccination before the vaccinators went to other parts of the region.

Head of WHO in Sool region, Halima Hassan Bisas said that there are many families that refused the polio vaccination, which will be an obstacle in the efforts to eradicate polio out of the region.
