Jiddeh (Sunatimes) One of the most respected Somali clerics passed away on Monday night in the Saudi city of Jeddah.

Sheikh Omar Hajji Abdi Suldan, well known as “Omar Faruq” died on Monday night in his house.

Family members said the Sheikh was not suffering from any disease.

Sheikh Omar was later in the day expected to be buried in the city of Jeddah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The scholar was well known for his Koran translation lectures. He was among the most respected scholars in terms of religious interpretations. The Sheikh was born in the Somali region of Ethiopia.
