Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has named a new cabinet composed of 27 ministers, 17 state ministers and 26 deputy ministers.
While the prime minister brought in new faces to the cabinet, several key ministers in the previous cabinet retained their positions while some were left out of the new line-up.
Among those dropped include Minister of Security, Mohamed Islow Duale, Minister of Education, Abdullahi Godah Barre, Minister of Information, Mohamed Abdi Hayir Mareye and Minister of Labour, Sadiq Warfa.
Foreign Affairs Minister, Ahmed Ise Awad, Finance Minister, Abdirahman Beileh, Health Minister, Fowsiya Abikar Nur, Minister of Planning, Jamal Hassan, Ports Minister, Maryam Aweys Jama’ retained their positions.
Mahdi Mohamed Guled also remains deputy prime minister.
Gen Mukhtar Hussein Afrah has been named as the new Minister of Interior and Federal Affairs while Hassan Hundubey Jima’le has been appoined Minister of Internal Security.
The new cabinet has to be approved by parliament.
