Who is the next prime minister in Somalia?

MOGADISHU (Sunatimes) Somalia’s current president Sharif Sheik Ahmed is supposed to name United Nation staff member as the new prime minister, sources say on Thursday.

Mohamed Abdirisak Mohamed, 40 who has an American wife with two children, studied in Virginia, United State is from Majeerteen clan as under the formula of 4.5 (four major clans and one minor clan) which the government is built on.

On Wednesday, president Sharif arrived in Addis Ababa to discussion with the Ethiopian prime Meles Zenawi his selection of Abdirisak as his first minister. Zenawi is the last decision-maker for the policy of the horn of Africa’s troubled nation ‘Somalia’.

Zenawi said this time Somalia should have a new prime minister who can steer the country towards reconciliation and unity.

Abdirisak, who is close friend with President Ahmed, has been working with former UN especial envoy to Somalia Ahmed Ould Abdalla.

Before leaving the office, Mr. Ould Abdalla advised President Ahmed that he should appoint Abdirisak as the prime minister in Somalia.

Meanwhile, some of the Somalia parliamentarians and other western diplomats and horn of Africa diplomats are pushing Maslah Mohamed Siad (son of late president) to be the next the prime minister. Siad was the candidate for the presidential election held in Djibouti January 31, 2009, where Sharif Ahmed won the vote as the president of Somalia.
