Addis Ababa (Sunatimes) The president of Somali Transitional Federal Government Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed met with Ethiopia’s Prime Minster Meles Zenawi in Addis Ababa.
President Sharif who arrived in Addis Ababa on Wednesday held discussion with Meles Zenawi. A spokesman for Ethiopia’s ministry of Foreign affairs has said that the leaders have discussed on the appointment of Somalia’s new Prime Minister.
This comes a week after former Somali Prime Minister Dr. Omar Abdirashid Sharma’arke resigned from his positions following disagreements between his office and that of the president.
Ethiopia’s Prime Minister meles Zenawi has said that Somalia should appoint a new Prime Minister who would steer the country towards reconciliation and unity.
Zenawi also emphasized on the importance of fighting Al-shabab militia group. He challenged Sheikh Sharif to appoint a new PM who would help in defeating the militant group.
President Sharif is expected to visit Kenya and Djibouti before returning to Mogadishu to appoint a new Prime Minster.
