Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Powers of the Somali Federal Government is in the hands of Dam Jadiid sect, a moderate, extremist group within the framework of the Government of PM Saa’id. Ministers of the group have more powers than those of the Somali President and Prime Minister.

Somali Minister of State for the Presidency Farah Abdikadir, whose job description is the management of the Presidency, is the most powerful/influential man from Dam Jadiid members in the Somali government. Internal Security Minister Abdikarim Hussein Guled who hails from the same secret group is the 2ndmost powerful man.

Both Ministers reside heavily guarded mansions with security cameras and electric fences, while the rest of the cabinet ministers can hardly afford to hire security guards and vehicles. Some of the ministers share residences.

Ironically, any minister who is not a member of the secret group Dam Jadiid has been paired with a Dam Jadiid Member who are much more powerful and mostly take unilateral decision.

Somali Deputy PM, who is also the foreign affairs minister Fowziya Yusuf dismayed when the Minister of state for foreign affairs Mohamed Nur Ga’al, a member of Dam Jadiid appointed head of Somali Consulate in Jeddah. According to Shabelle Radio, Mr Ga’al is also planning to appoint ambassadors and heads of consular affairs in certain Arab countries.

Apparently, there is a powerful, shadow government of Dam Jadiid operating under the current Somali Federal Government. It is not clear why the president who is the top civil servant has given these powers to his secret group, Dam Jadiid. The group receive huge, unaccounted amount of money from Gulf States, particularly Qatar.
