Mogadishu (Sunatimes) - Farhiya Yusuf Moalim (Ladan), one of the most famous female journalists operating for Mogadishu’s local radio Shabelle with her two children have been last week in Norway asking for asylum from the Norwegian government, report says on Wednesday.
Farhio Ladan left her journalistic work in Somalia for security reasons after receiving death threats from Al-Shabaab militant group.
“In fact, I have escaped myself from Mogadishu and I came here, Norway for my safety. I was threatened to be killed if I don’t stop working as journalist.” Farhiya said.
Mogadishu is the most dangerous place for reporters in Africa where they face difficulties of insecurity as almost 16 radio journalists were killed and dozens wounded in the capital for the past three years because of their tasks while hundreds more fled Somalia to Europe, America and Australia for protection.
