The Iranian Parliament has approved a bill authorizing the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical maritime corridors for oil transport. The implementation of the law now awaits final approval from Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, according to reports by Reuters, citing Press TV.
The Strait of Hormuz serves as a vital shipping lane through which more than 20% of the world’s oil supply flows. Any attempt by Iran to block or restrict passage through the strait could trigger severe disruptions in global energy markets, with potentially far-reaching implications for international economic stability.
