Mogadishu (Sunatimes) A grazing land in Lasananod district of the Sol region was yesterday razed by fire. Some of the leaders in the Sol region traveled to the area caught by the fire and together with the residents they were able to put it out .
The fire burnt thirteen temporary houses and killed a number of livestock in the area. The fire also swept the pasture on the grazing land leaving the pastoralist with no food for their animals.
According to Abdulahi Jama Diriye, head of the Sol region’s local authority, the fire started when pastoralist who recently settled the area started fire to cook a meal.
Mr. Diriye also said that his officers have used twenty tanks of water to stop the fire. The entire Sol region has no fire brigade and fire fighting equipments. Dirye asked Somaliland government to provide the region with some equipments.
Mr. Diriye also asked the residents to take preventative measures against fire. This is the third time the small valley in Lasaanod catches fire. The valley is a grazing land where the pastoralists take their animals.
