Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Militias of Somalia’s Al-Shabab insurgent group yesterday killed a local peace negotiator in Jiqey location in the Hiran region. The insurgents slaughtered 76 years old peacemaker Mohamed Dangab in front of hundreds of residents who were forced to gather at the scene of the horrific incident.

The militias are reported to have first captured the son of the local elder whom they have asked to show them where his father was. They took away the elderly man and ordered the residents of Jiqey location to gather at an open field to watch the inhuman act against the respected old man.

Later, one of the militias addressed the residents and said that they slaughtered the old man to serve as an example to the rest who would collaborate with any forces opposing Al-shabab. He also threatened that Al-shabab will again slaughter another prominent person in the area if their militias are attacked.

Al-shabab militias in Jiqey location were in the past attacked and more than ten of their militias killed by armed men suspected to be residents. Al-shabab are now reported to be making a revenge and at the same time warning the locals against any attempt of resistance against the administration.
