MOGADISHU (Sunatimes) Three people have been killed, four others were wounded on Saturday in bullets fired by the African Union peacekeepers after their convoy came under attack on the industrial road, witnesses told Sunatimes.

Somalia’s Al-Qaeda inspired militant group of Al-Shabaab claimed the responsibility of the bomb attack on the AU troops as militant commander said they killed four of Burundian soldiers in the explosion.

“It was just roadside bomb which destroyed one of the convoy and then the soldiers began firing bullets at a nearby public transport bus where three of the passengers died and four others injured.” Omar Basher, a local resident told Sunatimes.

Soon after the attack, the African Union soldiers sealed of the road and spread into the surrounds where they started investigation to find who could be behind.

This is the second the bomb attack within two weeks on the AU forces who have military barracks on the Industrial road which is key transaction in the capital.

The African Union peacekeepers, who are in Somalia to protect the government, face almost daily attacks from the Islamic militant groups who vowed to topple the curent government and impose restrict Sharia law on the country.
