    Somalia PM to form effective government, Briton abducted

MOGADISHU (Sunatimes) - Somalia’s new appointed prime minister will be forming his cabinet within 48 hours after long consultations with the president and other top government officials – as gunmen had kidnapped one British aid worker along with his Somali colleague in central Somalia.

 

Aides in the premier’s office confirmed Sunatimes that Mr. Mohammed Abdullahi Mohammed is now involving in announcing what he called less number and high quality cabinet ministers.

 

According to the officials close to presidential palace, the coming ministers will be based on the country’s power sharing formula of 4.5 (four main clans and one minor clan) and new faces to the political scenery.

 

But it is yet unknown how far can the new prime minister change the current image of the government filled with corruption, dishonesty and self-interest.

 

 Soon after his nomination, Mr. Abdullahi pledged that he would first concentrate in proving the security of two decade long troubled horn of Africa nation, Somalia.

 

On Saturday, hundreds of people gathered in the government stronghold area in Mogadishu to show their support for the new prime minister. The security of the scene was tightened.  

 

 

In the early hours of Friday morning, the Briton and his Somali national working for Save the Children were abducted a guesthouse compound in Adado town where fighting erupted between Islamic forces of Ahlu-Suna Waljama and the local militias of Xibin and Xeeb.

 

 

The kidnapped men have been involving in efforts to negotiate the release of Paul and Rachel Chandler, the retired couple snatched from their yacht in the Indian Ocean nearly a year ago.
