The Somali minister of Labour Mr. Abdiwali Ibrahim Sheikh Mudey, has started a new business of smuggling people by selling visas intended for persons purportedly to be genuine Somali delegates to ILO conference in Switzerland. Eyewitnesses say that the minister has already started selling the visas by charging each person $16000.

In past one week Abdiwali Mudey has been busy negotiating this price for up to four people at his house in Taleex village while rest of people will be used by rebel group fighting in Ethiopia, ONLF, to safely travel to Europe by avoiding perilous environment they are in east africa.

Since his appointment Mudey has had secret deals with ONLF official, Hanad Mohamed Mohamud, an official for American NGO Solidarity Center, is living in Kenyan capital Nairobi. Hanad has been financing Abdiwali Mudey.

According to brokers who are working as middlemen between Mudey and persons intending to go to Europe to claim asylum Mudey demanded advance money deposited at a money transfer company and that he will take money when visa is collected from Switzerland Embassy in Kenya.

There is no doubt that if this vicious act continues, it will be a scandal to the highest degree for the federal government of Somalia and in return the healing relationship with the international community will automatically shutdown.

The brutal, antisocial, corrupt and criminal scheme that Minister Mudey is dealing with will damage the reputation of the government with the international communities. Moreover, these will lead also smash up and demolish the diplomatic relationship of this developing country that is struggling for its survival.

The government of Somalia made many commitments against the illegal smuggling of migrants. Instead of upholding these commitments the Minister of Labor, Mr. Mudey has done the other way round and started smuggling Somali youth by taking advantage of the invitations the government is receiving from the International communities.

If the government and the concerned bodies didn’t take a prompt step towards this vile act, definitely it will lead to downbeat and depressing pressure against the Federal government of Somalia.
