Universal TV always makes pleas to the Somali Diasporas asking to help and send money through the station to their suffering sisters and brothers back in the country, a move that drops thousands of dollars in the hands of Engineer Ahmed Abubakar Al-Mubarak, the owner of the TV.
But a former employee revealed Engineer Ahmed was actually using the pretense of charity to send money to a violent terrorist group in the African country.
“In that process, Ingineer Ahmed profits thousand of dollars. He saves some of the money and sends half of it to the radical Al-Shabab Group” the former employee said on Condition of anonymity.
“Ingineer Ahmed used to extremely support Al-Shabab, before the groups ban on the TV, in the wake of the Anti-prophet Mohamed SAW cartoon pictures” the source said.
32 worldwide based employees have quit the TV on Saturday, after discovering the close relations between the TV’s owner and Al-Shabab.
These include the Televisions directors in Africa and Asia Abdulkadir Tunda and in UK Asad Mahdi.
Universal TV is unregistered Somali TV based in London, England and operates as a black market, and that is why the UK government has no any idea the TV’s terrorist acts.
