The Minister said that the UN will now be able to carry out its operations easily Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Somalia’s Minister of Home Affairs, Abdirashid Mohamed Hidig, has said that the Transitional Federal Government welcomes the decision by the United Nation to start operating within Somalia.

Abdirashid Hidig said that his government agrees with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Mon’s decision to send some staff to Somalia.

The Minister said that the UN will now be able to carry out its operations easily as it will be able to reach local citizens and bring services closer to them.

The United Nation announced early this month that it will relocate to Somalia after seventeen years of absence. Most of the UN departments are stationed in Somalia’s neighbouring countries as it was unsafe for them to work inside Somalia.

On another issue, Somalia’s Minister of Home Affairs, Abdirashid Hidig, also said that the TFG is planning to take control of the country’s territories. He said that TFG forces are already engaged in some regions like Bay, Bakol and the Juba regions.
