A young boy carrying an AK-47 rifle made the announcement as he walked Balcad,Sunatimes-  Militias of the Al-shabab group in Somalia have announced that they have banned potatoes and coffee beans imported from Ethiopia to be sold in the Bal’ad district.

Shabab militias told local traders that they will not allow them to import these products from Ethiopia and sell them in the Bal’ad district.

They also ordered the locals to stop consuming these goods. The Bal’ad district, which is part of the Lower Shabele region, is under the rule of Al-shabab insurgents.

A young boy carrying an AK-47 rifle made the announcement as he walked through the main markets and streets in Bal’ad. The boy was also telling local citizens that Ethiopia is their enemy and his administration will therefore not accept their products for sale in Somalia.

Some residents, astonished by the announcement, described the order as an unfortunate one.

Elsewhere, Shabab militias in the Bal’ad district seized a vehicle carrying medical aid to Jowhar town. The vehicle was transporting medicine for MSF Spain, which operates in the Jowhar maternity hospital. The seized medicine was meant for women and children patients.
