The youths were arrested and held for weeks by Al-shabab

Kismayo: Sunatimes-Somali young men who fled Mogadishu a few weeks ago have been held by Al-Shabab militia in Kismayo on their way to Kenya, where they wanted to seek asylum in the refugee camps.

The youths were arrested and held for weeks by Al-shabab, who wanted to establish the motive for their travel to Kenya. Al-Shabab usually intercepts youths passing through areas under their control and obliges some of them to join their militia.

Youths fleeing the war in Mogadishu, and other parts of Southern Somalia, usually try to avoid passing through the areas under control of the militia group on their way to the Dadadb refugee camps in Northern Eastern Kenya.
