Sirte (Sunatimes) Deposed Libyan leader Muammar
Gaddafi has been killed in Sirte, reports say.
Libyan National Transitional Council official
Abdel Majid was quoted as saying that Gaddafi was wounded in both legs near his
hometown of Sirte at down on Thursday.
Al-Jazeera displayed Gaddafi’s heavily bloodied
body.
NTC official said thebody of the former
Libyan leaderwas taken to a location which is being kept secret for
security reasons.
Reports say Gaddafi’s head of armed forces Abu
Bakr Younis Jabr has also been killed in Sirte.
NTC commander told Al-Jazeera that former
spokesman for Muammar Gaddafi’s fallen government Moussa Ibrahim, as well as
Gaddafi’s cousin Ahmed Ibrahim has been arrested in Sirte.
Colonel Gaddafi was toppled in August after 42
years in power.
NATO and the US state department said it cannot
confirm the reports of Gaddafi’s death.
Meanwhile in Benghazi, crowds gathered in the
streets to start celebrating thereports of Gaddafi’s death.
