Kampala (Sunatimes) Ugandan president Yuweri Museveni on Monday promised to send two thousand more Ugandan troops to join other peacekeeping forces in Mogadishu.

President Museveni made the announcement while meeting his Somali counterpart Sharif Sheikh Ahmed in Kampala, Uganda.

Museveni assured the visiting Somali president that none other than the TFG will be responsible of recently Al-Shabaab abandoned areas in the Somali capital, Mogadishu.

In a press statement, Somali government said the two leaders have had lengthy discussions on drought and famine related crisis in Somalia and AU’s position in responding to the crisis.

President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed is said to have briefed his Ugandan counterpart on the recent military achievements by the government troops and African Union Peacekeeping forces in Mogadishu that freed the capital from Al-Shabaab militia group.

The two leaders also discussed bilateral relation between the two countries and the international community’s position in getting a permanent solution to Somalia’s two decades old conflict.
