Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Reports from port city of Kismayo in Lower Jubba region say Al-Shabaab militia has shut down its military bases and training camps in and around Kismayo in fear of foreign air strikes.

Reliable sources in Kismayo told Bar-Kulan that Al-Shabaab militia has abandoned over eleven significant places such as training camps, military bases and firearms deport.

Among areas deserted by Al-Shabaab militias includes a military base inside the former meat processing factory, west of the city, and tarpaulin-made camp used by foreign Al-Shabaab elements in Somalia.

Al-shabaab militia has also emptied several other strategic bases like a training camp in Gob-Weyn area, 7 km East of Kismayo town and other places in Qoqani and Birta-Der areas at the outskirts of the port city of kismayo.

Al-Shabaab militia has on the other hand restructured its use of battle-wagons and weapons in Kismayo, banning convoys of battle-wagons when traveling to other places for security reasons.

The militia also ordered its ‘Hisbada’, a special unit of the militia that normally prowl inside residential areas to refrain wearing military uniforms and instead dress in normal civilian clothes.

Leaders of the Al-Shabaab militia in Jubba regions are reportedly worried about the increased foreign air strikes against their bases in the area.

Just recently a US drone attacked Al-Shabaab bases in Qandal area at the outskirts of kismayo town injuring several suspected foreign Al-Shabaab militias.

Earlier the US defence ministry has revealed that it will send US drones to Al-Shabaab controlled areas in the region to eliminate foreign elements in Somalia.

Washington’s army base in Djibouti is getting ready to serve as hub operation for drone attacks in the region, thus making easier any air strike need to eliminate militants in the Horn of Africa.
