President Sharif appointed 48 year old Mohamed Abdullahi better known as Farmajo as the new PM in a press conference held today in Vila Somalia.

Before his appointment to the position of Prime Minister, Farmajo was a social worker who was working with different aid groups and NGOS in the US.

Back in the 1980s, Mr. Farmajo was the ambassador of the Somali republic in Washington Dc. The new Prime Minister is expected to appoint his new cabinet very soon.

Former PM, Omar Abdirashid Sharmaarke resigned from his position following disagreements between his office and that of the president.
